5 ways you'll know this is the right home for you

Updated: Apr 8, 2019

1.) You'll feel safe in the home.

I know this might sound weird but when my wife and I purchased our first home we looked at 3 homes. When we found our perfect home it was a no brainer to us. We walked in and felt at peace and safe inside it. Safe can mean a lot of things but for us it was a feeling of family and well being.

2.) You start picturing where the furniture will go.

One thing for me as a Realtor it is a tell tale sign that someone like the home and will probably want to talk more about it throughout that day. Body language and tone of voice go a long way during the home showing process.

3.)You get territorial regarding the property.

When someone walks into a home and looks around, establishes a connection and develops emotions around it they are going to want it and not want anyone else to have it. I know for me that when I find something I like, I get scared when someone else shows interest in it.

4.)You want to brag about it to your family and friends.

I just sold a property to a couple from Indiana who were relocating and I knew what they wanted and when I found the home they eventually bought I knew they were going to love it. Of course I showed them other homes but I knew where their hearts were. Once the officially decided on the home I could see how proud they were of it and imagined the possibilities of their lives in it. When you find something you love you want to share it with the ones you love.

5.)You don't feel awkward in the bathrooms

When someone doesn't like a home they usually peak their head inside and are afraid to touch things and open doors and cabinets, especially in a bathroom. When you do find something that intrigues you, you investigate and show interest. Like opening the shower, touching the granite countertops or checking the water pressure.
